In a refreshing display of goodwill and humanity, Chelsea Clinton tweeted support for President Donald J. Trump’s youngest son, Barron.

The young Trump, 11, had been criticized on Twitter for his choice of clothing as he was photographed returning with his mother and father from vacation. He wore a T-shirt, shorts, and loafers without socks.

Clinton, former “first daughter” of Bill and Hillary Clinton, tweeted, “It’s high time the media & everyone leave Barron Trump alone & let him have the private childhood he deserves.”

Melania Trump responded on Tuesday night on Twitter, saying, “Thank you @ChelseaClinton – so important to support all our children in being themselves! #StopChildhoodBullying.”

Melania Trump has previously spoken out for victims of childhood bullying in general.

In a later tweet, Chelsea Clinton said, “Barron is A KID. No child should be talked about in the below manner-in real life or online. And for an adult to do so? For shame” This was in response to a since-deleted tweet critical of Barron Trump.
